Big News for Historic Greenville Theatre

Redevelopment of the historic State Theatre in Uptown Greenville, a public-private partnership between CommunitySmith, the Lincoln Theatre, and the City of Greenville, is projected to be completed soon! The theater, first constructed in 1914, has seen generations of Greenville residents laugh, cry, and be moved by live theater and other performing arts. It is CommunitySmith's goal to make this historic venue better than ever for current residents, especially after its closure in the 1990s.

Plans for the Future

After its completion, Lincoln Theatre will operate the facility as a flexible performance theater capable of hosting concerts, private events, and other public uses. On days when an event isn't scheduled, the building will be open for private rentals, making it perfect for churches, civic groups, and weddings. As part of the agreement with the city, the CommunitySmith/Lincoln team must spend a minimum of $1 million and the theater must remain a live performance venue for at least 10 years. The theater will operate with a full liquor license, driving plenty of people to the theatre for a date night, or just a great way to relax. Local businesses, particularly the neighboring restaurants, are thrilled at the potential revenue that their proximity to the theater will generate for them. The revitalization of the theater will also boost the area's property values. CommunitySmith is proud of the role they have had in breathing new life into another monument of Greenville's past, as well as the incredibly positive impact that the new business will have on the area.
